about the band
“Next up, a new album due in the spring — the band’s first full-length since 2017, back in kid days. If ‘10:37 in Heaven’ is any indication, it will retain a youthful energy while delivering a mature, broad, and brilliant sound.”
- Jed Gottlieb, The Boston Herald (2024)
Kalliope Jones (Alouette “Lou” Batteau, Wes Chalfant, and Isabella DeHerdt) is a post-rock power trio of elven drum beats, driving guitar grooves, and deep, esophageal bass lines. Originally a folk-rock group, Kalliope Jones was formed in 2012 at the Institute for the Musical Arts (IMA) in Goshen MA and has since developed its soundscape to bend gender-genre-genius from Punk, Rock, and Alt Indie. From sports references to blasphemy, nihilistic dance parties to sinful shenanigans, Kalliope Jones has yielded three distinguishable songwriting styles into a fusion that fabricates the fibers of cosmological being.
Through confession and collaboration, the band has made its way to the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, the Iron Horse Music Hall, the Wolftrap Center for Performing Arts, Club Passim, River Roads Festival and most recently, the Green River Festival, playing alongisde the likes of Flipturn, Trousdale, CAKE, and more.
Kalliope Jones has been sonically compared to illuminati hotties, Daisy the Great, and Hannah Mohan of And The Kids. Kalliope Jones’ ever-heightening anti-solipsistic sophistication is representative of wisdom beyond their years without any sign of slowing down.
